Students will be introduced to Extreme Network’s network access control solution, ExtremeControl. Students will learn methods to properly install and configure their ExtremeControl engines. Use cases and deployments for ExtremeControl within different network models are also discussed. The primary ExtremeControl use case covered in this course is visibility of end-systems with Passive and Pass-Through Modes. Components of authentication to include proxying RADIUS are discussed. Students will have these concepts reinforced with hands-on lab experience installing ExtremeControl into a preconfigured network.
Students will learn to properly manage their ExtremeControl engine. Students will also deep dive into the ExtremeControl rules engine and learn to manipulate network end-systems with authorization. Extreme Policy components and structure will be looked at, as well as integration with ExtremeControl. For students without Extreme Policy capable devices, ExtremeControl policy mappings will be examined to maximize ExtremeControl’s capabilities throughout a multi-vender network. ExtremeControl integration with ExtremeAnalytics and ExtremeCloud IQ will also be demonstrated. Students will have these concepts reinforced with hands-on lab experience managing ExtremeControl in a preconfigured network.
Students will learn to configure the ExtremeControl Portal to include Portal Administration, Guest Registration, and Authenticated Registration. Students will also be introduced to ExtremeControl Workflows built into ExtremeCloud IQ – Site Engine and well as ExtremeControl Notifications for automations. ExtremeControl integration with Extreme Connect and introduction to ExtremeControl APIs is also examined. Students will have these concepts reinforced with hands-on lab experience managing ExtremeControl in a preconfigured network.
Students will learn troubleshooting methodology as well as the troubleshooting toolkit a security engineer and ExtremeControl administrator can use. This knowledge will be reinforced through actual hands-on experience with networking equipment in a lab environment, where students will perform real world tasks.
Day one of this lab assessment is unstructured and will allow time for practice in the lab. The assessment will take place on day two and will be overseen by the assessing ATP. You will be given a number of lab exercises and scenarios to work through alone, before being marked at the end of the assessment.
